[MF43] MARK MCGUIRE & NATE SCHEIBLE - Certain Circumstances LP
$15.00ppd (U.S.)
$19.00ppd (Canada)
$25.00ppd (World)
In the summer of 2009, preeminent ambient guitarist Mark McGuire recorded with Cleveland mainstay jazz and rock drummer Nate Scheible. Mark's key compositions have been either solo guitar or collaboration with keyboardists, including Emeralds, Inner Tube (with Skaters' Charles Berlitz) and Skyramps (with Oneohtrix Point Never), so this presents one of the few recordings of Mark collaborating with a drummer and was captured pristinely in studio at Cleveland's own Zombie Proof. Recorded shortly before Mark's classic Living With Yourself solo album, these recordings capture Mark in all his pre-"South Beach" optimism and boundless exploration of sound, while he and Nate playfully and joyously rip through a variety of styles and zones – "super slowed down ambient seagull jamz, super rhythmic almost rock jamz, overloaded free jazz style blasters, tonz o' fun!"
Mastered by James Plotkin for a one time pressing of 500 vinyl LPs.

[MF41] Dialing
In - The
Islamic Bomb LP
$15.00ppd (U.S.)
$19.00ppd (Canada)
$25.00ppd (World)
Reita Piecuch transforms field recordings from her extensive travels through
south Asia into dense, static-barbed walls of drone through a variety of
arcane and archaic methods of sound transformation. Instead of using a sampler,
Reita's collection of odd and classic vinyl is mangled by pieces of scotch
tape across the grooves, allowing her to capture samples of everything from
Soviet 78s and Bollywood to classic rock and folk onto cassettes. When
moving to cassette, the four track becomes her instrument, allowing her to
transform the sound by speed and pitch and through layering with other sounds.
The backdrop for all this tape fuckupery is the inspiration of her travels
through Asia. By mixing audible snapshots of her journeys with piano, harmonium,
and her collection of samples, Piecuch creates an amazingly textured and
unique sound. The new album, The Islamic Bomb, uses recordings from
her recent trip to Pakistan. Calls to prayer from the Islamic muezzin become
movements so antarctic they slow the heart. Discintegrated loops of fast-talking
boys on the street become jittery Ata Kak rythms, masterfully meshed with
slow drifts of muffled piano. The Islamic Bomb is Dialing In's third
album following previous releases on Pseudo Arcana (Cows in Lye, 2006)
and Celebrate Psi Phenomenon (Ketalysergicmetha Mother, 2005). It
is undoubtedly her most restrained, meditative, and mature work to date.
Jade green vinyl limited to 500 copies.

HAZE / TRAUM - Monolith:
Jupiter LP+CD
$17.00ppd (U.S.)
$21.00ppd (Canada)
$27.00ppd (World)
The Monolith series combines two like-minded artists
on the same one-sided, reverse-cut LP by hard-panning
one recording to the right and the other recording to
the left. By adjusting the panning controls on his or
her turntable, the listener is free to control the degree
to which the two recordings melt into one. Each edition
in the series is limited to a one-time pressing
of 500 picture disc LPs featuring a Monolith
inspired painting by Ned Clayton and includes a CD with
stereo mixes.
Monolith: Jupiter is realized by two fre(e/ak)-jazz
duos: Traum and Bark Haze. On the right is Bark Haze,
the duo of Gown (Andrew MacGregor) and Thurston Moore.
On the left is Traum, in this recording
the duo of Hell Hall (Graveyards) and Zac Davis (Lambsbread).
The combination of the two recordings is either
interstellar kismet or pure trash or at least interstellar
trash.

[MF40] VIKING MOSES! -
The
Parts that Showed LP
$15.00ppd (U.S.)
$19.00ppd (Canada)
$25.00ppd (World)
The Parts That Showed
is the sophomore album release by the Viking Moses,
recorded on the Oldham family farm in central Kentucky
by Paul Oldham, featuring the talent of Spencer Kingman
(of Spenking), John McCauley III (of Deer Tick), Cody
Brant and Jacob Soto (of Flaspar) and Evelyn Weston.
This is a unique story of a teenage part-time prostitute
who spends her earnings buying ice cream for neighborhood
children, and of the man who obsesses over her from
afar, told from both angles, and spanning their lives.
However, the approach of this story intends to transcend
taboos and judgment to offer the listener a vast spectrum
of the emotion and ideals of the characters, setting and circumstance.
This album was written with the dream that it might
one day be sung by Dolly Parton, and so pays tribute
to her work and inspiration. Limited to 700LPs. 350 are on Pink vinyl,
350 on Brown vinyl. Please put in comments which color you
would prefer.

[MF37] WOMEN
IN TRAGEDY - Total
Fucking Romance LP
$14.00ppd (U.S.)
$18.00ppd (Canada)
$24.00ppd (World)
Coming out of the dank dark testosterone-fueled underbelly
of noise, Bob McCully's Women In Tragedy project offers
a skewed perspective in that he is kind of a softy.
His music sits nicely beside the post-Wolf Eyes noise/industrial/drone
genre that focuses on depravity and doom which includes
acts like Robedoor, Prurient, Hive Mind, etc. However,
McCully takes his name from a series of Lars von Trier
movies: Breaking the Waves, The Idiots, and Dancer in
the Dark, and this sort of sensitive and woeful take
on people in extreme agony is just as evident in his
music as the horror film torturer's glee that is common
to the genre. Kneeling over a vast array of distortion
pedals and processors, he pipes in synthesizers, guitars,
and screams to create thick, harsh sounding loops and
walls of sound. The emotional warmth evident despite the
deafening buzz and crumble gives the project a Jesu or Nadja-like
intamcy and immediacy. Limited to 300 LPs.

[MF38] HEAVY
WINGED / WINDY+CARL - Monolith:
Earth LP+CD
Out Of Print
The Monolith series combines two artists on the same one-sided,
reverse-cut LP by hard-panning one recording to the
right and the other recording to the left. By adjusting
the panning controls on his or her turntable, the listener
is free to control the degree to which the two recordings

a Monolith inspired painting by Ned Clayton and includes
a CD with stereo mixes, extended versions, and bonus
tracks.
Monolith: Earth is the oxymoronic pairing of dreamcore drone legends
Windy and Carl and new school leaders of free rock Heavy Winged. Heavy Winged
contribute one of their darkest, most oppressive tracks yet. The addition
of Windy and Carl's purity creates something entirely different. It's no
longer the sound of three bros busting out dark drone metal in some shed
in snowy Vermont; it's now the sound of some communal artists busting out
epic krautjams in the German hinterland. Primitive, vicious early man meets
colossal pristine symbol of higher thought - could there be any better pairing
for this Monolith?

NORTH SEA - In
the Time of the Sugar Pines CD
$12.00ppd (U.S.)
$15.00ppd (Non-U.S.)
In the burgeoning underground psych, folk, and noise
movement, The North Sea's Brad Rose serves as both one
of its biggest champions and contributors. His Digitalis
Industries imprint, 160+ release strong Foxglove CDR
series, and Foxy Digitalis online magazine have not
just pushed forward but unearthed many unknown, remote
artists in the genre and helped create and extend the
community.
Brad has been making his own music since the mid 90s and
has been a member of such bands as the Juniper Meadows, the
Golden Oaks, and the Cone Bearers. The North Sea is
his solo experimental / ambient / improvisational folk
music project and, like much of the folk music in the
movement, looks to bring together the style of folk
music with the feeling, sound, and aura of nature. In
this project, Rose mixes nature field recordings - birds,
air and leaves - with a wide variety of stringed instruments.

[MF32] THE
GOLDEN OAKS - Paradise
CD
$12.00ppd (U.S.)
$15.00ppd (Non-U.S.)
Paradise is free form Applachain abstraction
from the folk/minimalist duo of Keith Wood and Brad
Rose. Originally released in a here today, gone tomorrow
CDR edition on UK label Barl Fire, this batch finds
these autumn alchemists adding 2 more songs to the previous
offering of seven soul-soothing hymnals to the wind
and the trees and the sky and the leaves. Tranced-out
falsetto drifts atop supple strumming to create traditional
backwoods folk, stressed and compressed by the walls
around them (or lack thereof), making it softer and
airier. Their fractured take on folk is complimented by multi-layered
bowed string and harmonium drones, created from that same
soft and airy palette. As the smokey reverb of the drones
reaches resonance, the spectrum fills and amplitudes
peak in spaced-out bliss.

[MF26] RAMESES III - Matanuska
CD
$12.00ppd (U.S.)
$15.00ppd (Non-U.S.)
During the quiet nights of winter while the snow gently
falls outside, the fireplace offers warmth and light.
The UK's Rameses III hail from a place where subtle drifts
are priceless. These insular drones are highlighted by
rich acoustic depths, adding so much contrast that it's
heartbreaking. Recordings of birds add a natural grace,
and in the context, this trio is freed. Within these digital
walls rises something majestic, extracted from the soil.
With their latest full-length release, Rameses III build
upon their burgeoning reputation as architects of some
of the most beautifully striking soundscapes around. Matanuska
invites metaphor, conjures atmosphere and envelopes the listener
in its shroud. Glistening waves of string and keyboard
hum and shimmer to create wondrous ambient sculptures
that eventually find release in a blossom of bucolic folk.
Matanuska will appeal to fans of Stars Of The Lid, Eyvind
Kang, Brian Eno, Thomas Koner and Richard Youngs.

Ghost of a Plane of Air CD
$12.00ppd (U.S.)
$15.00ppd (Non-U.S.)
R.Keenan Lawler has spent the last 25 years developing
his own personal sound world, constantly pushing himself
in new directions and developing new techniques, while
remaining completely focused on his vision. His experiments
on 1930 National Resonator guitar are the stuff of legend
you sometimes hear from town to town by someone who may
have had the good fortune to witness one of his performances.
In 1999 he self released The Ghost of a Plane of Air,
it quickly went out of print and has since been heralded
by many as a minimalist masterpiece. It is now available
for a larger audience. Lawler here pushes the bounds and
very definition of the resonator guitar: bowing, picking,
scraping, knocking and combining it with electro-acoustic manipulations
and on site recordings. The sound that pours from the
speakers is dense, affecting, cavernous and like no other,
often delving from delicate picking into a flurry of notes
and ecstatic drones. Co-released with New American Folk
Hero.

Returns Meisha Forever CD
$12.00ppd (U.S.)
$15.00ppd (Non-U.S.)
The members of Meisha (Mike Tamburo, Pete Spynda, Ken
Camden) are very cognizant of the balance between technical
precision and emotion in music. While the album is rich
and contains very intricate guitar and piano playing,
the emphasis is on the interplay between the musicians.
Meisha weaves together chiming patterns of music box-like
guitar that are constantly evolving and morphing into
lullaby-esque drones.

[MF3] REMINGTON STANDARD - Why
Less Desire To Be Neat? CD
$12.00ppd (U.S.)
$15.00ppd (Non-U.S.)
The band is quite the contradiction of the rifle imagery
their name evokes - it's a quiet, subdued and restrained
quintet that smoothly lays out the progressive interchanges
that flow from varied instrumentation. Why Less Desire to be Neat?,
their debut album, has a calming, hypnotic and relaxing
quality that seethes from the eleven tracks. Perhaps it's
tranceinducing rock music for the electronica-inhibited
fan, but more than likely it's the synthesis of a group of indie
rock fans purposely contrasting their influences with their
musical actions.

[MF4] LANDING - Centrefuge
CDEP
Out Of Print
Debut Landing release. A 26 minute EP that retains an
unworldly aura of languid atmospheres within a solid song
framework. Guitar, bass, and moog are used along with
delay and other sound manipulations as soft male and female
voices drown in the distance. The sounds whirl and revolve
in volume and tone, creating a force that dizzies the
listener and clears his or her mind. Movements of each
song become separate, distinct chapters in a wistful daydream.
With each listen, the import of their EP's title becomes
more apparent.
